Telecom has announced that Nick Olson has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 October 2010.
In a media statement the company says Olson has been at the forefront in developing Telecom’s Ultra-Fast Broadband proposal. The telco expects to hear in October if it has been successful in its bid to partner with the government in its national fibre broadband plan.
Olson has been at Telecom since 2002, first in the role of Treasurer, moving to General Manager Finance for four years, and most recently serving as Group Controller. He also served in an acting capacity as CFO in 2008.
His background incorporates experience in finance, debt and equity capital markets, treasury and risk, mergers and acquisitions, performance management and financial reporting.
“I am particularly delighted that Nick has been successful after a competitive international search. His appointment reflects positively on our efforts to develop talent within Telecom," said Telecom CEO Paul Reynolds in the statement. "Nick brings intellect, drive and integrity to the role.”
Olson replaces Russ Houlden who resigned from the position in May, and will return to the Britain to take up the role of CFO at a FTSE 100 company.
