The Ministry of Social Development has advertised the role of chief information officer. David Habershon has been acting in the role for the past 21 months. A spokesman says an announcement should be made before the end of the year.
Land Information New Zealand is also looking for a CIO, with a job advertisement on the organisation's website noting "This role will suit an individual who quickly understands business drivers, can translate strategy into achievable deliverables and knows how to structure contracts with external parties for mutual benefit".
Key criteria for candidates include "strong business acumen", "strategic thinking and mangement capability in a complex environment", "ability to build relationships with IT partners so that Linz will get a value for money outcome" and "Can demonstrate a track-record in delivering improvements within an IT group that increases the productivity and output for an organisation". Applications close on October 15.
Meanwhile, Hutt Valley District Health Board CIO Tony Cooke has been appointed manager IT information systems investment planning at the National Health IT Board. Cooke had been on secondment to the board where he was co-author of the 2010 Health IT Plan. A replacement has yet to be named for the CIO role at Hutt Valley.
