Former Vodafone global chief technology officer steps down from rural services firm

PGG Wrightson CEO and former global Vodafone executive Tim Miles has resigned, effective immediately.

Miles is on the speaker list for the Rural Broadband Symposium in Rotorua later this month; he was due to talk on "The future of farming and the importance of communication technology as an enabler".

He has an extensive background in IT and telecommunications, having held positions at Unisys, Data General and IBM before becoming Vodafone's New Zealand CEO. He then moved to the UK with Vodafone, becoming CEO of Vodafone UK and then the mobile operator's global chief technology officer.

He returned to New Zealand in 2006 and took up the PGG Wrightson CEO post in December 2007.
