Ericsson jobs to go as rival secures contracts

Ericsson New Zealand is about to get rid of nearly a quarter of its workforce as it loses yet another key contract to rival Alcatel-Lucent.

Ericsson will shed 10 staff over the next six months, including contractors and in-house staff, out of a team of 50.

The company said the job cuts form part of a global cost-cutting programme which aims to save US$588 million (NZ$1 billion).
