Storage vendor Compellent is considering appointing locally-based staff after opening an office in Australia in September.
ANZ managing director Craig Stockdale, who is managing the Australian office, says it may appoint business development managers to assist the channel here within 12 months.
The vendor has one local partner, Revera, and says it could recruit more.
“We’re not in the business of appointing hundreds of partners and we’re focused on quality, but we’re looking to scale our business and additional partners is something we’re looking at,” says Stockdale.
He adds the third prong of the local growth strategy is growing the customer base. It is eyeing several key markets, including government, education (particularly universities), health and cloud service provision.
Stockdale adds the company’s challenge is also to grow awareness of its brand.
“We are not very well known but we are the fastest growing SAN vendor in the world according to Gartner,” he says, having recently posted global growth of 31 percent year on year.
Australian Reseller News recently reported rumours that Dell will acquire Compellent, but a Compellent spokesperson said he couldn’t say if the rumour was true.
