The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has appointed Mike Pilkington as its new chief information officer. He has been CIO at Express Couriers for the past six years. Pilkington previously spent 16 years at DHL in a variety of roles in Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur, during which he had oversight of IT infrastructure, systems and services. Foreign Affairs chief executive John Allen says Pilkington’s appointment comes at a critical time of technology change for the ministry. “[His] experience will be invaluable as we bring our IT and knowledge management teams together to deliver new operating platforms and tools such as the new Orange 11 network, global document management and electronic records," Allen says. Orange 11, which is Citrix-enabled and involves SharePoint, is expected to be rolled out across the network by the end of the year.
