Fordyce has held the role from December 2006; until this year, his title was Director, IT Strategy.
He says the NZ Post role “offers a tremendous opportunity for bringing some of my skills” to NZ Post.
“In my five years at the University, I have learned a lot and made a number of good contacts in the industry.”
He feels that after five years, it was time to look for another opportunity.
“I’ve always felt that five years is enough time to spend at one organisation in the same role.”
NZ Post is challenged by its declining physical mail business, but that is offset by business-to-business mail, including digital mail and digitally-signed mail.
"There are a variety of different challenges at NZ Post and I am excited about the opportunities the role brings."
The group technology manager role that Fordyce will fill was created as part of a re-alignment of IT at NZ Post and he will report to Paul Reid, NZ Post’s group general manager for Innovation and Technology.
Prior to Auckland University, Fordyce held roles at TelstraClear, Air New Zealand and Westpac.
