Greg Mikkelsen has been appointed acting CEO of Gen-I, taking over from Chris Quin, who is stepping up on June 1 to become acting CEO of Telecom. Quin will be in that role till Simon Mouter becomes the permanent CEO, planned for early September. Mikkelsen currently manages the Government, Enterprise and Trans-Tasman team at Gen-i, which has just announced a three-year multi-million-dollar deal that has integrated insurance group Aon’s trans-tasman voice, fixed line and data networks on to a single managed platform.
Aon has more than 500 offices in 120 countries, including 31 in New Zealand and 33 in Australia.
The company went to tender for a major consolidation and upgrade of its Australian and New Zealand communications services. A fully managed VPN service was chosen to consolidate the services.
Aon’s trans-tasman ICT services will also integrate with its global ICT network, allowing for a seamless operation across different platforms. Staff will have access to a single account management team and a single 24/7 service desk for Australia and New Zealand.
