Ministry of Justice IT boss moves to Talent2

Gerard Aberdeen has left the Ministry for role at company responsible for Novopay

The Justice Ministry general manager of information and communications technology services, Gerard Aberdeen, has resigned to join Talent2. Aberdeen had been with Justice since 2008 and reported to Rose Percival, deputy secretary of corporate services. The IS team at the ministry has 172 staff, according to the MIS 100 report.

Aberdeen didn’t respond to enquiries about his new role with Talent2, which is responsible for the troubled Novopay system.

Justice says he was replaced this week by an acting GM of ICT Services, Kathryn McInteer. The ministry came under fire from Labour’s ICT spokesperson Clare Curran on Tuesday, who claimed there had been a serious security issue with its database systems. The ministry denied there had been a privacy breach.
