Internet research company Red Sheriff has laid off one of its two New Zealand-based staff in a flurry of re-organisation that has seen development staff in Melbourne laid off and sales staff in Sydney also given the boot.
Kiri Carter, research manager in the Auckland office, is the only person left at Red Sheriff New Zealand after Jonathan Dodd was laid off. Carter says the problem stems from the sudden drop in online activity. "You could put it down to the flow-on effect from the dot com business."
Carter says the re-organisation was driven out of Australia. She says reports in Australian press that Red Sheriff New Zealand was closing down completely were untrue and that she is the sole representative in New Zealand "for now".
