FedEx, which Monday saw a nationwide software glitch impact the mobile devices called PowerPads used by its package-delivery personnel, said it has resolved the problem.
However, the FedEx system Tuesday morning was still working through a backlog of tracking information.
"The system is still uploading information from yesterday," said FedEx spokeswoman Sally Davenport about the situation caused by an inadvertently bad software download to the PowerPad devices on Sunday. That means that customers could see a "temporary delay in receiving tracking information" until the system is fully updated, which is expected around noon EST today.
Yesterday, package-delivery personnel across the United States were reduced to inputting information by hand and getting handwritten signatures instead of doing all this electronically because the bad software download caused the devices to not function correctly.
