SAN FRANCISCO (10/24/2003) - IBM Corp. and Cisco Systems Inc. in December will begin shipping a new SAN module for Cisco's MDS 9000 family of switches based on software from IBM's SAN Volume Controller storage appliance. The product, which will ship on Dec. 5, is the result of two years of collaboration between the companies. Customers will be able to use the SAN modules to pool storage capacity from a variety of devices on the network into a virtual storage system, which will give them a centralized point of storage management.
