Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds has joined the board of XConnect Global Networks, which provides VoIP and IP-based services.
In a statement to the NZX, London-based XConnect says "We warmly welcome Dr Reynolds to our board and we look forward to leveraging his global and 'carrier-grade' expertise to realize our shared vision of an all-IP interconnected world of communications".
In the statement, Reynolds describes XConnect as "the leading innovator of the federation model, which is the new all-IP communications interconnection paradigm" and says "I believe the federation model will have a massive impact on the future of the Telecom industry as the world's service providers move to all-IP next generation networks and roll out the new services".
XConnect chairman Ohad Finklestein pays homage to Reynolds' experience at British Telecom, where he was CEO of wholesale before taking up the Telecom CEO post.
"We welcome Paul Reynolds to the XConnect Board of Directors and look forward to sharing his board-level experience gained at British Telecom, and also Telecom New Zealand," Finklestein says in the statement.
"Dr Reynolds' visionary perspectives on the Telecom industry and experience realizing the revolutionary 21CN project at BT (an all-IP program) will be an excellent source of expertise to XConnect's leadership team as they develop the company's advanced ENUM-based peering federations around the world," Finklestein says.
