Star Wars lightsaber game confirmed for Wii

LucasArts announced on Tuesday that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be coming to Wii in spring 2008 with an exclusive versus mode.

The Force Unleashed -- which was previously announced for Xbox 360, PS3, DS, PSP, and PS2 -- will support both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers for in-game interaction. The game is set between Episode III and Episode IV and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy.

The Wii version, developed by Krome Studios (LucasArts proper is developing the 360 and PS3), also supports an exclusive versus mode in which players can compete head-to-head with friends.

"The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console's motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life," said LucasArts president Jim Ward in a statement. "We've worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique."

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed launches for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, and DS in spring 2008.
