International information technology service company, Atos Origin SA, has announced the appointment of Alain Michel as the new CEO of its South Africa operations.
Effective immediately, Michel hopes to position Atos Origin SA as one of the top six solution providers in southern Africa.
"The local ICT industry has a lot of potential that needs to be unleashed, which I believe Atos Origin has the ability to do. Also, it is exciting times, as the local marketplace faces some interesting yet achievable current and future challenges," he comments.
Before joining Atos Origin SA, Michel was the vice-president: Human Resources for SchlumbergerSema, Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, and, with 20 years' experience in the ICT industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the company's local operations.
In the foreseeable future, Michel will be focusing Atos Origin's business endeavors on the public sector and resultant utilities, specifically looking at managed services and outsourcing, and the ICT industry's emerging marketplaces.
"I hope to establish Atos Origin as the ICT hub for Africa, by providing expertise, technology and customer-focused services, thus turning customer vision into a reality," he says.
Commenting on the future of the SA ICT market, Michel believes that it will continue to see a growth in security services and solutions that focus on vertical markets, such as telecommunications and finance. Atos Origin recently completed its acquisition of SchlumbergerSema.
