BTS rolls out Overland NEO 8000 with SDLT600 drives

Bytes Technology Storage Group (BTS), reseller and partner for storage manufacturer Overland, has announced the immediate availability of the new Overland NEO 8000, which it says has SDLT600 support and unmatched business performance.

Says Mike Broderick, director of BTS: "The NEO Series 8000 enterprise library now supports both LTO-2 and SDLT600 tape drives and media. What this does is to allow us to offer businesses a solution which has more storage capacity per square meter than any other large data center-class library on the market."

Some of the key technical features of the product are said to include: up to 255TB capacity; SDLT or LTO-2 drives; between 85 -- 500 slots and, for the growing business, expansion on demand; as well as up to 12 tape drives; up to 3.1TB/hr transfer rates; and SCSI, Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet.

With the promise of zero downtime and increased levels of performance the NEO 8000, compared to its competitors, rates as one of the least expensive price-per-slot libraries available on the market, BTS adds.

"Increasing demands on the capabilities of the storage environment are driving the need for zero-downtime. The new NEO 8000 provides the customer with multiple fail-over and redundancy features to ensure data availability, hot-swappable drives and power supplies to ensure nondisruptive replacement, and redundant power to protect against power failure," concludes Broderick.
