JOHANNESBURG (03/17/2004) - Ananzi Mail (Pty) Ltd. has launched Ananzi Mail Plus, whose users will have a mailbox of 20MB, as well as access via their mail client (Outlook or other).
A new feature for Ananzi Mail Plus Users is that they are also able to send (SMTP) mail via their mail client, and other features such as virus protection will eventually be added to this paid-for service, the company adds.
"We believe that the service we provide is state of the art, and, as such, is very valuable to the user, who is willing to pay for enhanced services, as well as the user who will remain a loyal free user," says Mark Buwalda, Ananzi MD. The Ananzi Mail Plus service costs R199 (US$30) for two years, or R149 for a year and R99 for six months service.
Meanwhile, the company currently boasts over 50,000 users, and says that it has attracted a strong response to its paid-for model in the short period of time it has been offered, without alienating its free users.
"We are encouraged by the users' response," comments Buwalda. "Users have shown that they are willing to pay a nominal amount for a first class service."
Ananzi Mail has achieved a reputation for providing efficient, consistent service. "We have taken the time to react to users on a one-to-one basis as far as possible and the positive results and feedback speak for themselves." says Naomi Delport, divisional director of Ananzi. "As for the free users, they will keep their mail and will be able to access it via their browsers, although on a modified basis. The system is under ongoing development, and an advantage for all our users is our progress on filtering out spam."
The free users of Ananzi Mail have had their mailboxes reduced to hold 4MB and will not have the "pop" facility. Ananzi is actively seeking solutions for its large base of free users by introducing advertising in newsletters to the base.
