Former ABN AMRO CIO elected to Symantec board

FRAMINGHAM (02/05/2004) - Franciscus Lion was appointed to the board of directors for Symantec Corp., the Cupertino, Calif.-based internet security provider. Most recently, Lion served as a senior executive vice president and board advisor for ABN AMRO Bank. Lion joined ABN AMRO in 1984 as chief information officer in charge of overseeing 10,000 employees. Prior to joining the Dutch financial services company, he held various management positions at IBM Corp. including business planning, marketing and human resources management.

Lion holds an engineering degree from the Technical College of Gent in Belgium. He also serves as the Chairman of the Council of Business and IT Studies for the University of Twente. He's a member of the Information Beheer Group's supervisory board and chairman of the supervisory board of Business Architects International.
