Ex-Commerce Dept. CIO joins General Dynamics unit

FRAMINGHAM (02/05/2004) - Roger Baker joined General Dynamics Network Systems, a unit of the Falls Church, Va.-based defense contractor, as vice president of federal and civil operations. He will be based in the company's Fairfax, Va. office and will report to Michael Chandler, president of General Dynamics Network Systems.

Baker previously worked for CACI International Inc. as an executive vice president and he also previously served as CIO of the Commerce Department. At the Commerce Dept., Baker oversaw a US$1 billion IT budget and a 6,000 person staff. He left the Commerce Department in 2001.

Currently, Baker also serves as a principal for the Council for Excellence in Government, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank, where offers advice to new government CIOs as a member of its Chief Information Officers-Senior Advisers to Government Executives group.
