Ideal Fastener 'secures' market with Integr8 IT

JOHANNESBURG (11/21/2003) - Ideal Fastener Corp., distributor of apparel trimmings to the local clothing, leather and plastic industries, recently celebrated ten years in business by moving to new premises, as well as subsequently reviewing its ICT capability and infrastructure.

To help to manage the deployment, the company acquired the services of its trusted ICT partner and advisor -- network technology and solution specialist, Integr8 IT Ltd.

With head offices in Cape Town and branches in Johannesburg, Durban and Hong Kong, including agents in Mauritius and Zimbabwe, Ideal Fastener settled down into new, two and a half thousand square meter, premises and followed this up with an inspection of the networking and communications infrastructure.

Management decided to standardize on a complete Intel infrastructure, architecture and backbone and implemented broadband Cat 6 wiring, together with three gigabyte backbone high-speed 3Com Corp. switches as well as a new SQL server.

The company also upgraded its anti-virus software to the Computer Associate International Inc.'s E-Trust suite, acquired latest ArcServe back-up Version 9 and, through Integr8 IT and MTN Network Solutions, acquired 24/7 connectivity.

"Our intention was to secure inter-branch connectivity over the WAN. We also invested in Microsoft (Corp.) Great Plains and Small Business Server running terminal services and our applications are running smoother and far better than ever before," says Mark Isserow, financial manager at Ideal Fastener. "Integr8 IT has proven its capability and expertise within this market, and continues to be our ICT partner of choice."

Lance Fanaroff, director at Integr8 IT, says Ideal Fastener demonstrates a high level of thought leadership and determination as far as the adoption of technology to enhance communication, efficiency, where productivity is concerned. This trend is fast becoming the norm within businesses operating in this segment of the market, he suggests.

"As an SME operating at international level, Ideal Fastener relies on robust infrastructure and the ability to maintain contact with its target market. The clothing and textile industry in SA is extensive and established and international partnerships are formed on a regular basis. Ideal Fastener has advanced technologically through a proactive approach to ICT management, and the roll-out has been very successful," says Fanaroff.
