30,000 more .nz domains

Local domain name registrations increase by 22% over last year

The number of domain names registered in the .nz name space rose by more than 30,000 last year, the highest growth rate since 2000. Domain name commissioner Debbie Monahan says she's thrilled with the result. Monahan says the last few years have all been very strong but this increase, 22% over the previous year, has been exceptionally good.

"The registrars are doing a lot more advertising as well. You see them in some of the papers and magazines and even on TV."
