Company won't name customers affected

There’s been another datacentre outage, this time at one of Hewlett-Packard’s centres.

An HP spokesman says: “On Sunday morning there was a power outage at one of HP's NZ data centres. As 24/7 operation technicians were on site at the time to address the issue immediately, power was restored to the facility within two hours. The root cause is being investigated as a priority.”

The spokesman wouldn’t say which clients were affected.

Computerworld understands the data centre concerned is at Lane Street in Upper Hutt.

In April a power surge brought down systems at Auckland Hospital, while in October a similar power failure at an IBM datacentre brought Air New Zealand's systems down, disrupting airline operations for several hours.
