Conference called just days ahead of ACTA negotiations in Wellington

InternetNZ will host a conference on the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) next month in Wellington.
PublicACTA will be held on Saturday, 10 April, two days ahead of round eight of the ACTA negotiations, to be held between 12 and 16 April in Wellington. The findings of PublicACTA will be provided to the New Zealand government negotiators.
“We’re going to give the public the chance to have their say — in contrast to the secrecy of the negotiation process,” says InternetNZ policy director Jordan Carter.
Carter says ACTA could affect everyone's rights on the internet. Today it was revealed proposals from some countries seek to go beyond New Zealand's current public position.
The Ministry of Economic Development today called for submissions before 31 March.
