Alan Hesketh understood to be departing this month

Health deputy director general of the information directorate Alan Hesketh has resigned, effective from the end of February.
Hesketh has been in the role since November 2007. Earlier, he worked for Woolworths in Australia and was CIO at the Brisbane City Council.
Recently, he has been reporting directly to the national director of the new National Health Board, Chai Chuah.
The board was established to oversee district health boards, and consolidating national planning and funding for all IT and capital expenditure. Its broad mandate is to reduce duplication.
Health minister Tony Ryall has indicated that up to 500 jobs will be disestablished.
Computerworld was unable to contact the Ministry of Health to confirm details of Hesketh’s departure yesterday because the ministry’s internal phone system was down. However, shortly after this story was posted, Hesketh confirmed his departure.
