Industry figures say deal has been made

Industry insiders say a deal for Datacraft to buy Integral/Axon was concluded last week and awaits final approval from Datacraft's head office in Singapore. Rumours have been circulating recently that such a deal was to take place.

An industry analyst contacted by Computerworld says the rumoured sale price of $80 million “is in the ballpark”.

It represents approximately a seven times multiplier of the combined EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) of Integral and Axon.

Datacraft country manager Robin Hartendorp says he can’t comment on industry rumours.

Integral bought Axon in May for around $18 million. The combined revenue of the two companies has been estimated at around $150 million.

Datacraft is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dimension Data, a $US4 billion company which focuses on developing and operating IT infrastructure. It is headquartered in London.

Dimension Data, in turn, is the subject of a takeover offer from Japanese telecommunications giant NTT, which last year signed an IP VPN interconnection agreement with Telecom. Subject to competition approvals, the takeover is expected to be completed by the end of October.

It is thought that Dimension Data is looking to make at least one other acquisition in New Zealand.

It is not going happen Why would Datacraft or Dimension Data want to buy Integral Axon when the integration following the merger has not been completed and therefore the benefits have not been fully realised?

Secondly, Dimension Data is currently being acquired by NTT and until this completed, DiData would not be undertaking any purchases.

It is not going happen It's happening. This take over will allow Datacraft to become a major player in Unified Communication. They have always proved to be one of the top players in networking solutions and now they will be able to provide Unified solutions "from the desk to the cloud (almost)" If you take a good hard look at the current new zealand ICT drivers you will see that the biggest cut from the pie is from the government sector. The new national government driver for cost savings in similar to the insurance sector - meaning, if one IT entity can provide all services and that selected service provider can provide bigger discounts based on "what you insure" then why the hell not. The downfall of this however is that the centre of excellence "core skills" are situated oversees and local skills aren't required anymore. The only driver for buying Integral\Axon is to get on the band wagon with the way NZ government does business. The ICT landscape in NZ is changing drastically and with the buy over companies like Gen-i & Fujitsu NZ are in for a very hard time in acquiring any new business.

It is not going happen Nice piece of PR Kamikaze, not hard to guess where you work!!!
If the deal was done last week, subject only to head office approval, is everyone in head office on leave?
There is no deal. Even if there was there would be no leaks as DiData is a public company and they would have to tell the LSE first or risk ending up in jail.

Inaccurate reporting again! Is this a New Zealand tradition?
