Worldwide support, management and project services deal signed

Air New Zealand and Gen-i have extended their partnership for the management of telecommunications network services.

Gen-i will provide data and voice network services for the airline, which is one of its major clients, worldwide.

Telecom subsidiary Gen-i provides 24x7x365 day support and project services across 85 global and 69 domestic locations for Air New Zealand, including the management of services from a range of telecommunications and technology providers.

Gen-i says it can't reveal the value of the deal except that Air New Zealand is one of the company's largest clients. The scope of the contract has expanded, according to Gen-i, but the airline refers to cost savings through new network technologies and improved service as among its benefits.

"The services are now defined and managed within a strong ITIL framework," spokeswoman Carmela Salisbury says. "Gen-i partnered with the airline to implement this process and all other vendors providing services to the airline have now taken it on board."

New services include more management reporting and monitoring and project services, Gen-i says.
