ICANN chair to help guide IP interconnect policy
By Computerworld staff | Auckland | Wednesday, 23 July, 2008
Peter Dengate Thrush will chair the Telecommunications Carriers' Forum’s working party on IP interconnection.
The working party has already started work after agreeing on the project’s scope in June, the TCF says. Its primary task is to develop a code of practice, including technical specifications, for the exchange of traffic between Next Generation Networks (NGNs). The working party will also be assisting Telecom with its operational separation obligation to consult with the wider industry on IP interconnection.
The working party intends to produce an interim report in December and to complete its work in mid-2009.
Dengate Thrush is chairman of international internet body ICANN and a barrister and registered patent attorney specialising in internet, intellectual property and technology law.
