New Zealand’s Earthquake Commission, which undertakes research into natural disasters and provides insurance against natural disasters for residential properties, has selected Hyland’s OnBase cloud-based content management system to support its claims management system, Guidewire ClaimCenter.

The move has mad the commission the first customer to use Hyland’s two New Zealand data centres, announced in January in Auckland and Wellington.

According to Hyland these meet the standards for data sovereignty and encryption required by the New Zealand’ government. Ruth Fisk, director of global insurance sales at Hyland, said local hosting in the two data centres would ensure that EQC adhered to strict compliance requirements to keep data localised and provide it with N+1 redundancy.

Hyland said OnBase integration would provide EQC staff with a more efficient way to manage customer claim documents and communications. Linda Smith, manager business enablement at EQC, said extending Guidewire ClaimCenter functionality and automating the claim process, customer information would provide efficiencies for both customers and our staff.”

OnBase is described as “a single enterprise information platform for managing content, processes and cases deployed via mobile, on-premises or in the Hyland Cloud.” According to Hyland it provides “enterprise content management, case management, business process management), records management and capture all on a single platform.”
