Domestic freight forwarding and logistics company, Toll New Zealand, is to deploy cloud-based business process management software from local company Promapp.
The Promapp software will replace a range of processes documented in Visio, Word and on Toll’s intranet that were difficult to update and manage across the various units of the Toll NZ business.
Toll NZ general manager IT, Anthony Barrett, said the company wanted a language for process documentation and management that was common to all business units. “At the same time, we aspired to deploy a platform where processes could be documented and then evolve to where these processes could actually provide a platform for continuous process improvement,” he said.
According to Promapp, its offering was selected following a review of options on the market, based on its ease of use, attractive user interface and its overall return on investment. It will be rolled out to all of Toll NZ’s business units and departments.
Toll NZ is also deploying Promapp’s risk module to support overall compliance initiatives. Barrett said: “Our compliance policy aims to achieve the ongoing involvement and total commitment of all management, employees, contractors and suppliers to seek and achieve continuous improvement in everything we do.”
Promapp’s recently launched Process Variant Management Module will also provide Toll New Zealand with the ability to recognise standard processes and manage or eliminate process variations.
“We need Process Variant Management functionality as we have customer and region specific variations and must capture and manage these effectively in order to boost business operational performance,” Barrett said.
“Previously, we didn’t know how different a process was from one customer, region or department to another so we were unable to attach a value to it. Now, we will be able to see each variant and more importantly, identify the cost and impact of each process variation. We will achieve better management of process variations so will be able to better manage risk.”
Computerworld in October reported Promapp founder and CEO, Ivan Seselj, announcing the launch of Process Variant Management (PVM), saying the management of process variations had always been a huge problem, and 90 percent of organisations failed to implement it successfully.Read more: Xero migrates from Rackspace to AWS
“It is unnecessarily complex, costly, and inconsistent, particularly for organisations which are multinationals, have numerous locations, or offer multiple core products or services,” Seselj said.
He claimed the Promapp PVM Module addressed all of these issues by recognising standard processes and either managing or eliminating process variations.
