Two internationally acclaimed IT industry heavyweights are set to take the helm as independent directors at Australasian IT security firm Aura Information Security.

From next month, Xero Managing Director NZ, Victoria Crone, will step into the role of independent director, with US-based IT and computing expert Mark Canepa taking the position of Chair.

The move comes as Aura seeks to grow its RedShield product offering globally, as the first web application firewall to target, and achieve, 100% vulnerability mitigation to date.

Aura Managing Director, Andy Prow, says they hope to see RedShield become the world’s premier shielding system for vulnerable and high-value websites, with their sights set first and foremost on the US market.

“We’ve got big plans for the company over the next few years,” Prow says.

“When we began the appointment process for the board midway through 2014, we had some very specific prerequisites, which have been met perfectly by Victoria and Mark.

“Currently managing Rest of World growth for Xero in over 180 countries, along with previous Executive roles, Victoria brings significant experience and expertise that will benefit us greatly as we start to further expand our offer, especially with regards to strategy, marketing, business development and product sales.”

“We couldn’t ask for anyone better than Mark for on-the-ground capabilities in the US. His two decades of experience in the IT and computing industry has seen him grow a number of high-tech businesses, as well as take part in capital raising and IPOs.

“We’re thrilled to have them both on board and this augers well for another strong period of growth in 2015.”
